Imagined Theatre

Imagined Theatre seeks to author, develop and present new, original full-length and one-act musical theatre and dramatic works as a means of fostering literary creativity while reaching broad audiences through an affordable and accessible approach to theatrical production.

Imagined Theatre embraces the following principles:

  • Places story and characters at the center of its authored works, and strives to create dramatic pieces which seamlessly integrate music into the dramatic story

  • A strong commitment to an accessible theatrical experience for all; this includes reducing barriers to attendance both physically and financially, and creating works which are easily understood and relevant to a wide variety of audiences

  • Seeks to author works that are socially relevant, appealing to a wide variety of audiences, and which both highlight and redeem the emotional human condition.

Production History

Imagined Theatre recently produced Sasquatched! The Musical (book, music and lyrics by Phil Darg) which premiered in New York as a Next Link winner of the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) in 2013.

A second Minneapolis production in 2014 attracted over 2000 attendees. Sasquatched! The Musical is now enjoying upcoming multiple national productions.

In 2015, Imagined Theatre produced The Pound: A Musical for the Dogs (book, music and lyrics by Phil Darg and Julie Ana Rayne). The production ran for ten performances in Minneapolis. A one-act version of The Pound and was presented at the 2016 MN Fringe Festival (August 4-14). In May 2017, an excerpt from The Pound: A Musical for the Dogs was presented as part of Theatre Now New York's Sound Bites 4.0 at Signature Theatre in Manhattan.

In August 2017, Imagined Theatre produced Facility as part of the Minnesota Fringe Festival at the University of Minnesota Rarig Center Arena Theatre.
